Foster Dog #11 - Laura

We have just looked after our 11th foster dog - Laura. She was 4 months old and we're told she is an Australian Shepherd cross? We had Laura for less than 24 hours before she found a new home with a lovely family.

Foster Dog #10 - Sally

This is Sally, who was our 10th foster dog. Sally stayed with us last week, and is now staying with another new NRAS carer. Sally is still available for adoption, and her NRAS profile page can be found at http://www.petrescue.com.au/view/84907

Honey

Here is a picture that my sister took of her dog Honey - one of my favourite shots of her, that I just had to share.

Foster Dog #9 - Baxter

This is Baxter, who joined us last Friday.

He is an 18 month old male labrador and a real gentle giant. He is a little overweight at the moment so Baxter will be having a diet and exercise regime while he's staying at our house.

Quilt 4 - Jen's Graduation Quilt

When my sister completed her Doctorate, I gave her this quilt to say congratulations. We'd picked out the basic pattern together (appropriately named 'Sister's Choice') and then chose the fabrics together.

It's totally hand-quilted and I was very pleased with the finished product.

Foster Dog #8 - Jed

This is our current foster dog Jed. Jed is the brother of Jake, who is the previous foster dog we had. Jed is a total darling and we are loving having him at our house until he finds his permanent home.

Quilt 3 - Christmas Stars

This is the third quilt I ever made. I designed it and it was inspired by a cute country star with check fabric that I saw in a magazine. I think I made this around 2005/2006. I especially love the red cardinal star centres and the border print.

Quilt 2 - Green Squares

This is the second quilt I made. Very basic, but a nice puffy wadding that makes it great for curling up on the lounge.

Lola

This is my sister's pet cockatiel Lola. Lola was only 12 weeks old when we got her last Christmas Eve. As you can see from the photo, she got quite attached to our (fake) Christmas tree.

Looking Back - Foster Dog #4 (Fella)

Here is the last in the series of previous foster dogs. This is Fella, who was our fourth foster dog. Fella was a good dog but wanted to be the top dog all the time, which caused some tension in the backyard dynamics with Honey. Fella has now found his permanent home, where I believe there is a more dominant dog than him and he has learnt that being top dog isn't always necessary.

Looking back - Foster Dog #3 (Sandy)

This is my next installment of reminiscing about our previous foster dogs. Meet Sandy, who was our third foster dog. Sandy (we think) was a cross between a daschund and a rhodesian ridgeback. She was small, but had a definite ridge going on. A lovely little dog who I trust is doing well in her new home.

Looking Back - Foster Dog #2 (Artie)

I want to put photos of all our past foster dogs on the blog. Here are some photos of Artie, who was our second foster dog. He was bigger than Honey, but a total gentle giant and lots of fun to have at our house. Artie was adopted by a family who lived on a farm and who kept goats, so I think Artie had a world of fun ahead of him.

Looking back - Foster Dog #1 (Cassie)

We've still got our current foster dog Jake, which is great as it is so much fun having him stay with us.

I found some photos of our first foster dog Cassie who was a Jack Russell puppy. She was absolutely adorable and a lovely experience to start off our fostering.

Foster Dog #7 - Jake

Meet our newest foster dog - Jake. He is 11 weeks old and is a blue heeler pup. Have had heaps of fun today watching Jake and Honey run around the backyard together.

Foster Dog #6 - (Boy) Friday

Our 6th foster dog from NRAS arrived on Friday. He's named Friday as that is when he was due to be put down at the pound. He's a great little dog. Aswell as playing with Friday, got lots of work done on two new baby quilts I'm working on. Should be able to have some photos of them soon, but in the interim here's some photos of Friday.

Foster Dog #5 - Shadow

My sister & I foster dogs from Northern Rivers Animal Services (NRAS), who rescue and rehome dogs and cats. We've fostered four dogs previously, and just got our 5th foster last Friday night. Her name is Shadow and she's about 6 months old. She and Honey are getting along fabulously. Shadow is available for adoption and her profile can be viewed at http://www.petrescue.com.au/view/55904.

New 'Jungle' Quilt

I've started work on a new baby quilt. It's based around a great jungle fabric that I bought, with a green/yellow/blue colour scheme. I'm hoping to have the blocks sewn together by the weekend - I'll see how I go....

Quilt 1 - Blue Sampler

Here are some shots of the first quilt I ever made. I was living in Brisbane and signed up at Kedron Sewing Centre (since closed) for a quilting class in 2004. I chose the blue and white colour scheme, and Elizabeth from the shop helped me choose the fabrics. Doing a sampler as a first quilt was a great learning experience, and I really love the end result.

First Posting

I've been thinking about this for a while, but have decided to go ahead and set up my own blog. I've enjoyed following other blogs (mostly about quilting) and I'm joining in.

My post will mainly be about my favourite hobby (quilting) but will hopefully also have features on pets and foster pets.

I'll be back tomorrow with some photos of my quilts.
